FORMAT:

Format will be three games of regular 10-pin bowling on the same pair of lanes by a four-person team, comprising of all men, all women, or mixed.  EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO RE-OIL LANES IN-BETWEEN SHIFTS.

Blind Doubles teams will be created by random draw prior to the start of bowling for each squad on a first-come, first-served basis. 


ELIGIBILITY

This tournament is USBC sanctioned. USBC cards or proof of card purchase for each team member must be presented prior to bowling. If you do not hold a USBC card, one can be purchased for Association dues of $25. 


MULTIPLE ENTRIES

Event may be bowled more than once but at least one bowler must change on the team. Blind Doubles is limited to once per squad bowled.


ENTRIES

Entries will close 30 minutes prior to the start of each squad.  No Walk-Ins allowed after this time.  Entry fee of $40.00 per bowler per event breaks down as follows: Lineage $14.50, Prize fund $20.50, Expenses $2.00, Masters Championship $2.00, Jr. Scholarship $1.00.  Entry fee of $10.00 per bowler for Blind Doubles breaks down as follows: Lineage $0.00, Prize fund $7.00, Master Championships $3.00.  


AVERAGES:  

Bowler must use their 2024-2025 COMPOSITE average for 21 games or more.  If no 2024-2025 composite average then either : (2) the current highest average based on 21 games or more at the time of entry, or (3) you will enter using a 220 scratch average.  (USBC Rule 319a(2) – 10 pin Avg Rule WILL apply.)  If your highest current average as of 21 games or more as of the day of the event is at least 10 pins higher than your 2024-2025 Composite Average, you MUST use your current average.


Failure to report the correct average or make corrections prior to the completion of the 1st game could result in disqualification if the reported average is LOWER than the actual average.  (USBC Rule 319a(3).  IF YOU HAVE NO COMPOSITE AVERAGE FOR THE 2024-2025 SEASON, PLEASE BRING A COPY OF A CURRENT LEAGUE STANDING SHEET TO PROVE AVERAGE IF THE AVERAGE CAN NOT BE VERIFIED ONLINE.

It is the responsibility of each bowler to verify the accuracy of their own average.


PRIZE FUND

Prize ratio for the Team portion will be 1 for every 6 entries. 

Blind Doubles will only pay the top (5) teams. 

Prize money will be returned 100% with last place money at least equal to the prize fund fee.  


HANDICAPS

Team Handicap will be the total of each bowler’s handicap which is calculated at 90% of 220.


Tournament shall be governed by USBC rules not covered above.

Tournament House is limited to at least 10 lanes per event.

SWISS SCORING  --  Team rosters will be listed from lowest to highest average with the lowest average bowling in position #1.  The format is head-to-head competition plus handicap with the other team on the pair of lanes.  There is a total of (6) points available each game, (1) for each individual game, and (2) for the team game.  Every game after Game #1 in qualifying will be a position round.  All team ties will be broken by total pins + handicap.

LANE ASSIGNMENTS  --  For the 1st game of qualifying, lane assignments will be made based on order of entering team average (highest team avg on Lane #1).  Every game after that will be a position round, with the starting lane for the 1st place team changing each game thereafter.  

FORMAT  --  QUALIFYING  --  There will be (6) games of qualifying with points accumulating after each game bowled.  After the initial (6) games, the first cut will be to the top (8) teams that will go on to SEMIFINALS.  Team ties will be broken by total pins + Handicap.  SEMIFINALS  --  The top (8) teams will bowl (1) more position round game with total points from qualifying being carried over.  The next cut will be to the top (4) teams that will go on to the FINALS.

FINALS  --  The top (4) teams will bowl a (2) Game eliminator to determine the champion.  No points or pins will carryover from qualifying.  After Game #1, the bottom (2) team scores (total pins + handicap) will be eliminated.  The (2) remaining teams will bowl the last game to determine the overall champion.

Entry Forms & Payment can be dropped off at 20th Century Bowl, Mt. Baker Lanes, or Park Bowl.  You can also sign up on the Whatcom County USBC Website.  SIGNUP EARLY as this tourney will fill up fast.  Remember that at least a $200 deposit must be paid prior to 12/6/25 to hold your team spot.  No refunds will be made if a team drops out of the tournament within 5 days of the tournament.  Prepaid $$ for that team dropping out will be included in the overall prize fund.  Venmo is accepted.  The Venmo account is below.

***  BRACKETS AND HI GAME/SERIES POTS WILL BE RUN AS SIDE ACTION DURING THE INITIAL 6 GAMES OF QUALIFYING ONLY.

***  BOWLING BALL RAFFLES WILL BE AVAILABLE THE DAY OF THE EVENT WITH PROCEEDS BEING ADDED TO THE OVERALL PRIZE FUND.

***  IF ANYONE BOWLS A 300 GAME DURING THIS COUNTY-SPONSORED TOURNANEMT, WHATCOM COUNTY USBC ASSOCIATION WILL AWARD $100 FOR EACH SANCTIONED 300 GAME BOWLED.

FORMAT:

Format will be (4) Games as follows: 1st / 2nd Game = 9-Pin, No-Tap [9 pins on first ball counts as a strike] (add both scores together for the team), 3rd Game = Regular Doubles Scoring (add both scores together for the team), 4th Game = True Scotch Doubles (one score for the team).

 

Blind Doubles teams will be created by random draw prior to the start of bowling and will ONLY use the scores of Games #1 - #3.

 

No USBC awards in this bowling format, No USBC Sanctioning.

 

MULTIPLE ENTRIES:

Event may be bowled more than once, but you MUST change partners for your 2nd entry.  You may cash with both partners.

 

ENTRIES:

Entries will close 30 minutes prior to the start of each squad.

Entry fee of $40.00 per bowler per event breaks down as follows: Lineage $14.50, Prize fund $20.50, WCUSBC Masters $2.00, Tourney Expense $2.00, Jr. Scholarships $1.00).

Entry fee of $10.00 per bowler for Blind Doubles breaks down as follows: Lineage $0.00, Prize fund $7.00, WCUSBC Masters $3.00. 

 

AVERAGES

Bowlers must use their 2024-2025 COMPOSITE average for 21 games or more.

If there is no 2024-2025 average, then: (1) Highest current USBC verifiable average based on 21 games or more by tournament day may be used.  (2) All others will enter using a 220-scratch average. (USBC Rule 319a(2) 10-pin Rule will apply).

 

CORRECT AVERAGE

Average verification is required. Failure to report the correct average or make corrections prior to the end of the first game of any series shall result in disqualification if submitted average is LOWER than the correct average (USBC Rule 319a(3)). It is the responsibility of each bowler to verify the accuracy of their own average.

 

PRIZE FUND:

Prize ratio for the Scotch Doubles portion will be 1 for every 6 entries.

Blind Doubles will pay the top five teams only (multiple winners are allowed).

Prize money for both will be returned 100% with last place money at least equal to the prize fund fee. 

 

HANDICAPS:

Handicap will be 90% of 220.

 

Tournament shall be governed by USBC rules not covered above.
